We hit the first day of Winter – yay!
*insert sarcasm*
Who loves Winter? I know some of you out there do. And not only that, but we hit just over 6 months of blogs! 26 weeks to be exact, aka 26 blogs. Woo!
In recent weeks I have learnt the excitement and feeling of truly living when you step out and step up. Whether it be trying something new like a hobby or speaking up. Whatever it looks like there is time to try new things.
Recently, I wore something that wasn’t really my style. Honestly, it looked super cute online, so that’s how I ended up with it. But nevertheless, I wanted to try something new. And little did I know that the old knit jumper quite literally made a gentleman’s day. It reminded him of the old days, and sure enough, the old fashion is making a comeback. But, yes! He started a conversation and genuine happinesses in the work elevator because of the top I was wearing. And I did have doubts before leaving for work. Our sisters and women out there will understand…
But not only that but stepping out also – in more ways than one, and don’t I have a story to tell. It was so funny because when I saw the traffic lights turn yellow to cross the road in the city, my confident self decided that I would stepped out early – trusting that the road light would go red and my pedestrian light would turn green. But to my surprise, as the traffic lights for the main road switch to yellow, I made a few steps out onto the road. Kinda like half committing to the walk, knowing full well I should wait til my light went green to cross. I thought it was fine, because I saw all the cars slowing down. However while the next 5 seconds pass, I see in the left of my eye a person on a push bike, powering his way towards me…
He slams the breaks, and as I turn, I mouth “I’m sorry.” Because I could see he was gonna make the light. Thankfully no one was hurt. He probs was just wondering why I stepped onto the road, and not continuing and end up blocking his path.
Moral of the story, don’t be afraid to step out and keep walking. Preferably not blocking a determined man on his bike, in the middle of the day in the city. Because you might surprise yourself what you can learn from that experience or even make someone’s day! And to top if off, even inspire someone to knit a jumper. You might not feel like you trying something new matters, but while it is gonna def be uncomfortable, it’s the only why you will learn to grow.
When you chose to step out, you actually step up. To level up one might say. It’s only through new experiences, and trying new things you can find what you like, learn more about yourself, and the world we live in. And you will find yourself, growing and becoming a better version of yourself.
But rather than changing to fit into the world, we should try level up in God’s eyes. Try to improve the way we carry ourselves and find ourselves in His Word. Because our identity in Christ, is far greater and true than in the changing world we live in [Ephesians 4:22-24].
God, you amaze me!

Ephesians 4:22-24 NIV
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

God our green light
