Good morning y’all!
What an amazing time of year, with things feeling warmer. Though we are not quite done with Winter. Only halfway there and half left to go.
This weekend was a fun one, full of love and laughter. Theres nothing truly better than being home with the family and creating memories.
This week, like always, there’s something to reflect upon and share.
This week I was going to be on time for the bus for work. But knowing full well that on time actually means late, seeing buses leave at the time is says, I knew that I needed to make up precious time. So, I began running. Because even in the past, for trains 10 seconds makes all the difference. Because yes, leaving work I recall so well, I missed the train by the skin of my teeth – literally 5 seconds, as I saw the doors shutting and it was too late.
Haha and typing this I realise even in previous posts that being ‘on time’ for work kinda is my jam atm. But that’s beside the point, as it isn’t a jam we want to be known for.
So, I’m running. And it’s been a hot minute since I did much running. So I’m out here taking breaks. Mind you I haven’t ran very far.
But once again after a short breather, I hit the road running. We’re going strong. And I am not focused on speed at this rate but just maintaining a steady pace. Consistency. But then next thing I know, is that I am on the ground. Yep, fully on the ground. Almost like I went head over heels. And honestly there was a small part of me that didn’t even want to get back up.
Now I didn’t even place too wrong my foot. But the slightest offset, made a huge different. And I will blame the platform shoes I was wearing for causing me to trip and which has now left me here with a swollen ankle.
I had no broken bones which is good! (It would have been obvious had it – but just to let you know). And thankfully no one was passing by to see me fall on the road.
But rather than staying on the ground, I do push through. Talking to myself, that you made it halfway, why stop now? And what’s all the effort, if you’re just goanna give up. It’s silly really.
Yes it is now uncomfortable pressing weight on that foot and I would definitely be late now, now that I cannot run.
Haha and turns out, in hindsight, I didn’t need to run from the beginning. Because there was the bus I needed to catch and another bus going the same route, right behind it. So knowing this now, I would still get to the same place, in good time had I not ran. But hey. Why not just sprain your ankle?
So it all worked out.
The main thing in this example is to look up to God. When you hit what feels rock bottom, but not even just in the lowest moments, but in all areas of our lives – to look UP to Him.
With this, we must grow, change and get back up again. If we remain on the ground, who else can help us up?
It not about how many times you fall, but what matters is how you respond. Could the fall teach you something? Ideally that we have a deeper realisation than to not run in platform shoes – which is also good.
Things that bring us down are temporary. We (myself included) needs to run to God and His Word for comfort, guidance and strength, to get out of the muddy pit [Psalm 40:2]. For He is our firm place to stand.
God, you amaze me!
E
Psalm 40:2 NIV
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.

God who lifts us up
