God, You Amaze Me: God is so Good.

Good morning y’all!

What a blessed day we get to live.

I was realising a few things this week. First thing is that since no longer having to commute double the time, when the trains were down. That now I am more grateful for the trains to be back. Again, it’s like how you don’t realise how good you have, or rely on or significant something is, until you no longer have it.

Also, here are some more thought I would love to share with you. I was encouraged to read more of my Bible in the morning before work. And this week I did. But to be honest, it has been a while. And boy did I notice the difference. And as I explained to my friend, the only way I can describe it is just like you need fuel for your car, reading the word is the fuel to your spirit. Not only that but reading it intentionally in the morning holds such a weight. It sets you up for the day ahead – before life throws itself at you. To start your morning with His truth as your focus, in His presence. To recall His love, and your identity before the world tells you lies. I really noticed the difference. Haha it’s kinda like as you train at the gym, you get dopamine, and like this the Bible is so energising. Though even with gym or any training you don’t want to do it, in the beginning. The more you do it, the more the feeling it leaves you with, the more you want to do it. And I want to do this more. Because just like I noticed the difference in commute time – when it was changed back to trains from only buses. I notice also notice the difference between when I start my day having my morning in His presence and when I do not.

Last thing and the main thing I wanted to share and expand on is the time this week,  was that I was rushing to work. During your rushing to wherever you got to go, when you know time is limited (I am talking to mostly the women), we know how to prioritise what matters most. In this case I still needed to brush my teeth, change, do makeup etc. And because I was rushing and to make it on time, there was no time to overthink things. Though the whole time I was thinking “should I do my makeup?” Because it can still be an insecurity of mine. Because when you wear it daily, you kinda feel naked without it on – exposed, and the true reason for wearing it shows. Which was what it felt like at school too, when in winter all the young kids – myself included, would first try to be “cool” and not wear our jumpers. But by the end of the season, I would grow so comfortable wearing my jumper, that initially I didn’t. want to take it off. In fact, I loved the comfort of wearing the jumper than my immediate repulsion in the beginning. It now felt like I would be exposed without wearing it – but the seasons changed.

But back to our story, because I was rushing I had to think fast and act quickly. And in fact, that whole day though at first I was a bit uncomfortable, because yes I rushed out without makeup on. It didn’t change anything. Sure, I feel like makeup covers my blemishes and enhances my natural beauty. But in a way I felt my bare skin, besides my essential SPF applied, I felt like my skin could breathe.

So, in this example I reflected that I need to be okay with the uncomfortable and most importantly not overthink. As I’m sure we all tend to do. But it was under the time pressure that I had no time to waffle around. As I saw a reel and it’s so true. Depending on the time we set to spend on something, say study for uni. We first try set a realistic time to complete. But ever had days you spent the whole day? Because long story short – and I have experienced this – that we could set 4 hours to a task or set the whole day to complete the task, and we will make it either 4 hours or take the whole day. Depending on the time we set, we will either make it productive, or thinking we have the whole day, we will procrastinate etc. but how good it would feel to finish the task early and enjoy the rest of your day? To no longer think about the task whether it be an essay, and get out of this feeling ‘stuck’.

So be encouraged that God is so good! And sometimes we will prioritise Him and our time with Him lower. Let’s try continually seek Him and build regular habits to make time for Him [Colossians 1:10]. Because for most of you (if not then I am just talking about myself), we cannot leave without breakfast. Just as breakfast is important, so is our spiritual life with Creator God.

God, you amaze me!
